Who is an expert on clocks on 1989 Type 25? After several removals of the dash for other reasons mine has decided to sulk and won't work. Fuse is OK. Is the electric feed to the clock the spade terminal which comes out of the back of the clock itself or is it fed from the printed circuit? How is it earthed? The temperature gauge within the clock works - is this what is fed by the spade terminal? I find it profoundly irritating to spend life at ten to three! Have my tampering with the dash and printed circuit buggered the electric feed or has the clock itself died? Was working fine before I started.

Hi Malcolm,

the first thing probably to check is that pin 5 on the 14-pin multipin connector is ok - a bit of a clean up will never do any harm. That is the Clock 12V feed, and earth is pin 3 I think. If everything else is working, then pin 3 is probably fine. You could use a wire to bridge directly to the clock terminals. IIRC there is a bit of PCB that is folded over and goes onto a spade terminal (what you're talking about Ithink), which I think is the positive feed, and earth is a screw tag somewhere underneath. I can't recall exactly I'm afraid and that may be wrong. Do you have a multimeter? With the ignition on, check pin 5 against pin 3 - it should be 12V. Pin 8 is the 12V feed for some other stuff (like oil pressure lights which earth through the senders), so check that too for sanity.

Great, Ewen, thanks very much. I will try that when the temperature rises above freezing! I have a multi-meter but your bit about a tag from the PCB going under the spade terminal rings a bell. Maybe I left it off last time I was in there. Let you know how I get on.
