Well you got home ok and on gas so probably no damage done , drain the tank and new fuel filter ( located drivers side a little way along the fuel line behind the tank ).

Easiest way that most garages use that i have seen is rig up a 12v battery (or use your van one if its in vgc/man enough) . get a small electric fuel pump (cheap facet copy or similar or even one from scrappy) and wire this to battery. undo fuel line from carb and connect to 'in' on fuel pump. connect a metre or so of fuel hose to 'out' of pump and then find somewhere suitable to collect fuel - 25l plastic drum/water course/field/BBQ etc etc

Easiest/quickest method that dosnt involve messing about and getting your hands too dirty.

Or you could get it running on LPG, and take the pipe off the mechanical fuel pump, add some additional length to the pipe, and let the engine pump the petrol diesel mixture into a BIG can (or 2 or 3 or 4 )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I put Diesel in our Scirocco once, at near midnight and away from home
I put some clean petrol in the windscreen washer bottle and connected to outlet from that to the carb.
I then took the pipe off the fuel pump and fed it into a can.
Then started the engine and kept the carb full by occasionally using the windscreen washer pump on the stalk
This pumped the Diesel out, it took 30 minutes.
Filled up with petrol and off we went
The windscreen washer pump did not work properly the next day as the fuel had damaged the rubber inside, but a new one from the breakers for a fiver and all was well.
I was quite pleased with that solution to the problem (as was the passenger who was with me !)
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here
Hello,
If you have a paraffin fired workshop heater, you can use the oil/petrol mix in that.
Otherwise it makes an excellent degreaser/deruster.....don't smoke or inhale vapours.
You might have to change the filter a couple of times, as diesel contains some water.
Cordialement,
