Engine question

Post by sandyman »

I have a 1986 (C reg) t25- 1.6 td (I think!). I know that it had an engine change before i got it and wanted to know if exactly the same TD engine was fitted to 83/84 models as 86 ones. Is it possible to tell from the serial nos. on the block?

Yes they are all the same engine but if your going to change it go for a 1y conversion.

Judging from your other post have you bought the wrong head gasket and as silly as it seems have you tried turning it round?

That's the thing it can't be wrong...JK only do one covering all those years (http://www.justkampers.com/shop/t25/ori ... 10783.html). Reason I had a doubt was that after mech and i got it started he said no oil was going round engine when he took rocker cover off. What do ytou think i should do next?

Remove head and check I'm afraid unless your oil pump is dubstar, oil cooler clogged or blocked oil filter but if you have just done the head gasket and your asking about covering holes it's head off and re-check

Jk stuff is often marked up wrong!!!! If the mechanic noticed there was no oil around the rockers then the head gasket is blocking the oil ways!!!!!!!! Aint the best of mechanics there mate, oh and I have been one for 17 years !
