will undoing both rad hoses at the join with the long plastic pipes near the spare wheel carrier, and removing exp tank cap and rad bleed bolt get most of it out?

Draining the cooling system.......
What's the best way of getting as much of my old coolant out of the system as poss, for a refill with a fresh 50/50 mix? (2.1 petrol eng.)

there is a bolt in the heads at the bottom. remove the pushrod guards and you will find it.
