Re: Lower Ball joints
Should look like this on a late arm

It is a hammer in job though without a doubt.

And should have a retaining ring like this.

Simon.

Re: Lower Ball joints
You have probably been supplied with a ball joint off a bay window. They are slightly smaller in diameter.

Re: Lower Ball joints
there is an "insert/adapter" that sits in the hub carrier.. that the ball joint passes through.... must be left on the old balljoint... IIRC these insert/adapter are not cheap from VW...

Re: Lower Ball joints
Thanks all, I'm sure they are the right ones. The old one has gone as it was FUBAR
I'm taking the other side off tomorrow to compare!
Maybe the collar was on the old one so that's screwed it up!!
How much are they from VW.....GULP!

Re: Lower Ball joints
Topran is a budget brand.
We've had thr problem a couple of times where even lemforder ones are a poor fit.
Its always the later cast arm.
Fear not as we have some oversize ball joints for this very problem.
I don't think they are on the webahop though. If you want some drop is a mail.
