Cheers Pete, as and when. I'll leave the seats out while I take it for the test.

Hey Neil,

Just to say I still intend comming, will bring tall Chris and fat Jon, they can fight it out for kettle duties.
They were well impressed with the whole event in Wales and want to come.
Got a New boot to replace the one I crunched on that rock, the one i bought s/h on fleebay was perrished and went straight back.
Mind you, It had loads of tread and a lovley coat of tyre black.
Going to keep my eyes in front in future.
Still no MT's though, looking for a set of cheep 16" steelies for off road.

Get a better spotter and get heads out windows when needed
By some accounts MT's are a big disappointment...ask JTS. For cheap 16" steels you could go Vito but ET is about 54 so you'll need longer studs or bolt-on spacers. On balance, buy Mefros with smaller ET and whack straight on.

I think MTs only work properly when they are spinning so they self clear. That would take loads of grunt and put huge stress on the drive line. They do have good side walls though. I would think ATs would do just as good a job for what we use the Syncro for but at the end of the day its down to the driver.

Its all a case of conditions in my opinion.

Mud terrains are definitely king when things are a bit sticky.
All terrains turn into slicks very quickly in sticky mud, the wider tread pattern on MT's is far superior in the sticky stuff.

But for general driving, which to be fair is unusually in mud, AT's are lovely. I'm amazed with the set i've just put on my van, it feels like ive got power steering compared to the set of general grabber road tyres i had on there before and they are just as quiet on the road.

I am still gradually collecting together a set of MT's though, for when i know its going to be sticky.

Eh? Mefro rims are not direct replacements for VW rims. Go here to get a 6x16" Mefro. I dont think they are available in other 16" sizes

well said that man, i think that we all ask to much from the tyres that are on our vans, we want god fuel economy, low tyre noise, good grip in the wet and dry, good breaking, good traction in the snow mud and off road, etc etc etc etc the a/t's are a very good all rounder. but thats what they are, an a/t. works well in most situations, but do have there limits. i have moved to 2 sets of tyres now, one extreame or the outher, (road tyres and muds).but i think that there is a button on £65.000 range rovers that dose all this these things for you, and the mefros are a very good wheel to use off road nick, all be them a trailer wheel

back to the post the all are welcome, we will meet in a car park in Leatherhead just off junction 9 M25 i will put a google map link nearer the time.
