Eber b2l fuel pump
after so many problems with my eber I ended up buying a new but totally random fuel pump as mine was working intermittently. The good news is it fires up VERY time and nice and toasty. The bad news, lots of white smoke and stinks of fuel. Is this because the pump is pumping to much fuel and if so is there any way of altering it. A long shot I know.....

Re: Eber b2ll fuel pump
guess you could try and find out what the eber one is rated at and put a regulator inline.
was looking at eby.de last night and eber seach throws up best oart of 3000 parts!! using vista auto translate it was quite easy to navigate. parts cheaper than here aswell but as with all things ebay ,its a gamble.

Re: Eber b2ll fuel pump
apparently the outlet end of pump is threaded and can be rotated to regulate the output - this may not apply to all of them though, if there's a locknut against the body then it maybe adjustable

Like this -
indicated 10mm nut turn in to decrease flow (clockwise) - hold other nut with spanner. When done use a blob of paint or sikaflex to stop it moving again.

Here is a diagram for the flow rate per minute in ml at the various voltages if you wish to set it up accurately.
- the shaded one is the the b2ls - ignore that one.

Re: Eber b2ll fuel pump
cheers guys, the old pump def has 2 nuts so will try and adjust that but it doesn't seem to want to pump but does make the clicking noise but it's the 2nd pump I've had and as they'e so old it's not surprsing they give in. The new pump doesn't have any I don't think....will have a play!!

Re: Eber b2l fuel pump
had a play with my old one and lost the spring! Does anyone know if the ball-bearing goes in the pump first then the spring or the other way around (If I ever find the spring...it's so small!)
Tried crimping the feed from my new pump to see if that made a difference and the white smoke went so definitely a flow rate problem, ie too high with the new pump and not enough with the old one. However, the new pump does not have any nuts to adjust......

Re: Eber b2l fuel pump
Ball towards pump body, spring to outlet.
Can you not just swap the old outlet (with spring)for the the new one so that you can adjust it? Or is it totally without a removable outlet?
With the old one have you tried priming the pump with a little diesel or wd40 and then operating it. Is the filter clear?(inlet end)

Re: Eber b2l fuel pump
The pumps are totally different unfortunately plus I lost the spring yesterday like a pillock. Dropped it, never to be seen again!!

Re: Eber b2l fuel pump
Have you tried searching for it with a magnet?
PM me your address and I'll drop a spare s/h one I've got in the post for you if you want.
The way I would deal with the new one is seal the outlet with solder or plastic metal and then drill a fine hole in it using a selection of small drills - I would start at the lower end of my box of fine drills - around 0.6mm or so working upwards in size until you get the flow you need. A lot of testing but saves wasting an expensive pump! You must have got a pump that is for a 3 or 5kw or larger heater only.(The Webasto airtop 2000 ST (2kw) uses a 0.7mm hole as a restricter which will give you an idea)
Did you try priming the old pump and try it - that may start it working as they don't like being dry. If it works then you will need that spring.

Re: Eber b2l fuel pump
yep, primed the pump as they don't like being dry do they, seems to work for a bit then give up......
That's a good idea re blocking it up, not thought about that although did think about an on-line tap?? Don't think a magnet will work as I was outside cause the sun was out and on the table on the patio with a million gaps so it's probably gone forever...
I jave had to change the connections at the pump end of the wiring so will see if I can suss the current pump. If not, the spring would be really handy so will let you know and thanks for the offer...
