Leaking gear box

Post by roadmark69 »

My gear box is leaking oil,it is coming from behind the drive shaft flange.
I am guessing there is a seal. Anybody ever had this problem or know how easy to sort.

which side of box ? Nearside is easier access - otherwise it's a fairly straightforward job. May need to get a flange in hand too in case yours is scored. My tools for the job are in transit to me as Euan did Jen's a couple of week's ago down at Bristol casual syncro techie weekend.
Procedure is well documented in Bentley manual.

If you have a 46mm socket (castle nut size) its the perfect size for installing the new seal, you will need an appropriately sized long bolt or threaded bar of course. Should be straightforward enough.
Cheers,
Sam.
