We used to free camp in the car park for St Albans head (St Aldhelms)back in the early 90's, just through Worth Matravers. Then walk the coast to Lulworth to the West and Swanage to the East. They used to do raves in the now closed caves at the back of Dancing Ledge beach. I think we have camped in that carpark you were in if it is closer to Weymouth. When we camped in the New Forest we always stayed at the back of the town car park in Lyndhurst, and did the same at Dorchester. Unfortunately the carpark for Maiden Castle is frequented by boy racers. Studland is a great place to visit, and camping along the road seems to be acceptable.

Lovely area.
