Ive been meaning to post this update for a while now, this is my (1981) 2000 litre Aircooled viking camper called "TREVOR".
He was riddled with the big "c" when i bought him, but i was blinded by his facilities and potential, and i knew a guy who was very good at bodywork.
Ive replaced standard soggy, wobbly suspension with brickwerks avo 50mm lowering springs and bilstien sports shocks, polyflex bushes all round, and they make a massive difference, especially on motorway when van would be a whiteknuckle ride when windy.
It`s had all four arches replaced, both sills, front lower panel, both side steps, ive put a new sliding, passenger and bootlid on aswell, all rotten.
And we finally resprayed him about 3 months ago in black, was meant to be mat but it`s got some shine to it.
Im just turning my attention to re-trimming door cards and new flooring, it`s bog 1981 standard inside and im going to keep it pretty much as is.
Put some nice penta alloys on after a quick re-furb and all is well, im going for the euro look with van, so smoked indicators iron cross parafinalia etc................
This has been done over the last 18 months, and done on a budget. Up close the paint job aint show class, but it was never meant to be. The van didn`t warrant a 2grand spray job, if you look at what it stated like and what it looks like now, it looks well.
If you live in and around rotherham/sheffield you will have seen him around.
