Just re-assembling the front drive shafts onto the g.box flange with the spacer and noticed that there is only about 7mm of stick through (thread engagement). Have I mislayed my longer bolts somewhere and got rear bolts by mistake??? As 7mm doesn't look anywhere near enough meat.
The bolts I have are about 48mm long (not including head).

There is only 2mm difference between 2WD and 4WD bolts.
2WD being 48mm, the syncro ones being 50mm.
50mm ones here.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I personally would like to see more thread engagment (belt n braces -> 1.5xDia. = 12mm). However, if 50mm is out there and doing the job then that will have to ding dang doo. However, my guess is that these need to be tip top so that they don't undo (as per the instruction in wiki).
I'll hunt around the garage for my 50mm long bolts, if I can't find them I know where to go.

I had all my CV boots replaced lately and found the old bolts had been replaced. From what I'v found from almost everywhere that sells then and various publications whenever a joint is disturbed it should have new bolts fitted, I guess especially if the original had been in for what seemed like the life of the van.

Replacing fasteners is down to torque stretch, if you reuse a fastener and do it up to the correct torque over and over the bolt will eventual fail, so as a precaution OEM's recommended they be replaced.
IMO its good practice if you have no history on how many times the fasteners been used, especial with things like drive shafts and engine mountings
