Speedo drive?

Post by ELVIS »

My end has gone south

Can you just buy the very end bit or do i have to spend yonks on the whole shooting match ? I understand all suffixes B-J *snigger* are now obsolete.

Ideas? anyone killed a box or have a spare one?

I love you Aiden

You can get aftermarket speedos that run off GPS. No cable required. I am toying with doing a custom pod for my van. Not cheap though.

I'm not sure how these work as this is what I found

Is that a blanking piece? As It doesn't interlock with the speedo cable.

This is all new to me can someone shed some light on this please.

Thanks

mmmmmm

That is NOT how it should look chap. When i looked into replacing it i was told there would be some sort of plastic spigot type thing that always breaks, the bit the notch in the speedo cable fitted into. Like a male/female fitting. Is thats what was in there?

There is an oil/service sticker on drivers side of dash that reads less than speedo so im guessing some theiving jonny foreigner robbed it when they knew it was leaving the country . Aiden still has a few second hand ones apparently.

It looks like a blanking piece of some sort. Any idea on how much the part costs and what in involved in replacing it?

Check out VC removal & refitting too. Shows a picture of the inner part of the speedo drive.

There should be a spade type coupling that sits inside the cable end you were holding. This is one shaft with a plastic helical gear at one end and the spade at the other.

Yes, it's diesel.

So pretty much no chance of getting one then?
