Gas Fridge/Heater problem

Post by lisa_zebedee »

Hi we seem to be having a problems with gas aplienses in our van.

The fridge has never worked we have fitted a new Thermocoupler (sp) as that was what was thought to have broken ( the origanal owner was convinced that was what had broken) but it still will not light there is a new gas bottle and we have checked that the van is on the flat. it will only stay lit when you have your finger on the button it wont stay on so not sure what to do.
Its an Electrolux model no = RM122f

The heater is a Propex style heater called Truma and again we have checked the gas and the van on the flat but this just makes a noise like its stating up then switches off and then a red light comes on flashing the control unit on the side of the van.

Wondering if we could find out what's wrong with them both and fix them or if we cant fix them is there anywhere in North Wales/Chester/Wrexham area that look at those sorts of things?.
The fridge broken this time of year is not a prob but the heater is soon to be needed.
Not sure what to do
Cheers x

Right then, Propex first. The flashing LED is actually telling you what the problem is. You count the flashes and look up what that means in the Propex User Manual that you haven't got. However, luckily there is a manual in the 80-90 Downloads section and the fault code chart is on page seven; not your exact model perhaps but I think the codes are universal.

The Propex website has a selection of manuals you can download too.

If you are still unable to resolve the issue, give their Technical Support a ring; they have a fine reputation for advising people with problems

Ok now the fridge. Provided that the thermocouple is working and fitted correctly it should hold the gas valve open once it has heated up (usually takes several seconds). If it is working then the finger points towards the valve itself since it can't be a gas issue as it stays lit as long as you keep the button depressed. I would make absolutely sure it's not a thermocouple/fitting issue before you pursue the valve replacement route. There are a few Electrolux manuals in the club downloads section so it might be an idea to have a read of them first.
