Smokey engine on startup
Hi all, well this is my first post on the forum and what an amazing source of information the site is! I have a couple of questions which I would like some advice on if possible. I currently own a T25 1.7D (KY engine) which is approx 22 years old and starts first time when run from cold. There is however quite alot of white smoke ommited from the exhaust for about 5 mins until the engine is warmed up, then the smoke disappears. Even when accelerating there is no clouds! In addition if I have been on a long run and turn the engine off, it is then quite hard to start again. It usually starts on the 3rd or 4th turn of the key and only when I push the accelerator pedal flat to the floor. I think I know what it might be and that is a defective glow plug or perhaps a blockage in the fuel line. Am I right, and would a set of new plugs & new fuel filter solve these issues? Thanks.
Re: Smokey engine on startup
i hav the same thing going on with my camper at the mo its a 1.6td and i am doing the work on it my self the 1st thing you wont to do is check your compression on your engine they wont to be reading about 400bar if they are all fine you can check your glow plugs at the same time if there is nothing wrong that it maybe dowm to one of your injector not giving a good spray see what everyone else say to do but the compressions will tell you a lot
best of luck we all need it in today world
