Loads of cooling issues with my DG, basically everything past the stat refuses to get hot whilst the rest cook's. Followed the wiki, replaced all cooling serviceables stat pump radiator etc... Had the lump recond. So in a moment of anger removed the stat removed the middle bit and replaced runs cold now.
The question is did I have a faulty stat or an evil air lock

No, the problem I first had was the big pipe on the engine had rusted and was leaking, as I worked through the system as my gauge didn't show a reading I replaced the senders on the housing and as a matter of course the stat and pump, this was the first time I had an indication of a cooling problem. The stat was a new G.S.F. stock item.

I have had a few problems with GSF thermostats and have now stopped using them. Vehicles I know that I have fitted them to have had theirs replaced with an alternative brand.
Funnily enough they seem to be Thompson branded ones, same as the Thompson branded lambda sensors that don't like working with the MV engined 2.1l's.
