Oil change

Hi all, i have been given 5 litres of Q8 formula Excel synthetic 5w-40 motor oil and because it was free i was going to use it for an oil change on my 1,9 1z tdi. Is this oil suitable any pros or cons ..... many thanks

What is the mileage on the engine

Does it currently burn or use any oil between changes

I run a turbo diesel, now 250 000 miles, on synthetic since 50 000 miles, never any problem

Always use a Knecht or Bosche oil filter.

Hi, it has done about 100,000 miles and does not burn any oil, do we think this gratis oil will be fine

its a very high quality oil, I cant see it doing any harm, although it doesnt state that it is specifically intended for Diesel engines, my usual rule of thumb is the better the quality the better the protection..... probably over kill in your engine but hey if it was free who cares !
