is it possible to run a 24 volt eber heater in the van without too much trouble ? or is it more trouble than its worth thanks

Yes.
I run three 24v Webastos in two vans and one boat.
Depends upon how much sophistication you want - it's more complicated when you add remote and /or timed switching (need to add relay and transistors). As long as you can source a suitable 12v to 24v supply for the amperage.
