Engine oil flush

Post by Ian and Lins »

Having seen a few messages regarding changing engine oil, oil light coming on and tappet noise; here's what I did.

I change the oil and filter about every 4-6,000 miles; its cheap and easy to do.
I occasionally had the tappet noise, but it always went away. The garage where I have the 'heavy' stuff done suggested I use some engine flush at the next oil change. I did this and the tappet noise has not happened since and the slight glow of the oil light (mostly noticable in winter in the dark, so just like August this year really) has gone.

Some people say that engine oil flush creates problems but it worked for me and I respect the advice and experience of the garage and its owner.
Are we going on anything else?

i have always been wary of using this myself.from what i have heard and read.using engine flush (especially on old engines) can cause crud to sit in your sump.and eventually blocking the oil pump.lets hope this isnt the case with you..
