OK I'm going to ask - How do you get the spare wheel out??!

I've looked on Wiki. I've done a search on the Forum. I've bought the Manual from JK 'Tells you just about everything you need to know' - no it f**king well doesn't - tells me how to replace a clutch, but not what I need to know. It's p**sing down outside so I'm not inclined to lay under the van. Someone mentioned taking the radiator grill off.

Is this a rights of passage thing - does everyone go through the ritual humiliation? Do any posts on this subject get deleted by the moderators so that the next newbie falls into the 'spare wheel trap'?

Please someone tell me how to do it. I'll then bend over and say "Thankyou sir, please may I have another".

Mine has a plastic ring hamging down from the front bumper. Give that yank and out would come if I had one!

Really must do something about that actually, it came without one when I bought it!

19mm bolt holds the spare wheel holder up at the front just behind the bumper undo it and pull the release strap watch yer pinkys though

Thanks for the info - the rain eased so I just went and checked / inflated the spare.

Have you found the windscreen washer bottle its in the left hand footwell by the step pull the carpet back heh presto there it is

Have you found the brake fluid reservoir?
And the pencil that was dropped down the heating vent? The 10p piece jammed under the handbrake, the curious selection of mouse droppings in the cupboard.... ah the list goes on, exciting it is in a world of T25s.

I like to put a foot (often my own) under the wheel holder to take the weight. It makes turning the bolt easier, plus the release tab on my van is inclined to release at will.

I like to do that, but I like not having punctures better.

I found it.

No that was the breakdown 3 times in 3 weeks button, but by travelling on the back of an AA van 3 times I have saved a fortune in fuel!

This is getting good - looks like a thread of useful tips.

- No, do tell.

- I have found loadsa pencils, half emptied cigarettes (wonder what that's about), a 500 Italian Lire coin, about £5 in change (like a rebate on the van cost), a few socks, etc.

- Yes several people have mentioned that and I've pulled the carpet up in various places, but not found it yet. More probing to be done tonight on that front.

Any more stupid newbie tips always welcome.
