New plugs and leads - but I seem to be missing something

Post by sjmtlewy »

I bought a new set of WR7DC+ plugs and HT leads (http://www.justkampers.com/shop/type_25 ... 18qtm.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) for my '82 1.9 DG.

The leads have these big metal shrouded connectors on the end, but I can't work out how to connect the to the plugs. My olds ones physically click over the plugs, but with these the little metal bit housed in the connector isnt wide enough - surely they dont just butt up against the connectors?

Not having a petrol engine but - do you need to take the shaped end off of the plugs. Years ago I had a set like that on a car I had.

^^What he said

To expand, the little metal nipple at the top of the spark plug unscrews, leaving a small threaded section that your new leads will slide over and grip onto.....

Cheers,

All sorted - ends unscrewed as suggested.

Good side is the engine is now running far better than before. Downside is its lost that charming "steam train" sound
