Syncro Project

Post by flame haired warrior »

Greetings all,

New to all this. Have owned a couple of bugs and a T4 and recently lucked myself into a syncro panel van for a bargin.
It came to me with most of the body work done and only needed some paint and putting back together. Easier said than done I'm sure there will be a few hurdles before it gets onto the road

Here are some pics of progress. I hope you like

This is what it looked like when I picked it up

Here it is after some paint

These are the rims I am putting onto it. They are a 15" wheel (from a 70's fyord I think) with 5 by 112 stud pattern. Needed a little tinkering but they are now fitted and looking sweet.

Image

Mocked up the lights on the back end. Tinted hella light clusters with black powder-coated guards.

......... and wheels on

Thats it for now. Need to take some more pics of progress. As I said, I'm new to all this and I'm sure I will be bending some ears for advice in the future.

Cheers

Jol

Love the rims. They're probably early 80's Mustang/Mercury.

We used to use them on Granadas and yours are the best looking set I have seen in ages.

Keep up the good work.

Picked myself up a full width rock-n-roll bed and some ply-lining. Will use it as a camper but want to keep it minimal inside as I want to use it 'properly' eventually

Someone I know started the project some time ago and for a number of reasons (personal and financial) didn't finish it. It was sitting around and I was fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time and have run with it since. Most of the bodywork had been done and it didn't need much work to get it into paint. I'm going through the process of putting the lill puppy back together now and I'm hoping for it to be on the road by the end of the month

Sadly have other stuff booked for that weekend Bummed to be missing it but have the long (er) term aim of getting it done for the final fling in North Devon. Slow and steady wins the race and all that

At long last here is an update on this project.

The rear bumper and tow hitch has been fitted. This took longer than anticipated as a slot had to be cut for the tow hitch and being left handed and a bit dumb I cut it on the wrong side . As a result I had to weld up the hole, strip it back and repaint it again.

Image

On the front end I have used the same cages over the light clusters that are on the back. The plastic grills have had a coat or two of black paint and spotlights fitted to the front bumper. Still need to get the bolts for the lower grill then it will be fitted in place properly.

Image

Another pic from the back end. Bed fitted using slats to support the padding. Decided this would be easier to move about than a solid lump of wood.

Image

Have been very busy on the interior. Had some laminate flooring left when I finished my house so have used what I had left on the van. Picked up a whole load of red and black vinyl and stuck this onto the ply fitted to the back of the bus. There are a few air bubbles but on the whole it looks sweet. Fitted some big speakers to the base of the bed and gave the wood the same vinyl treatment. More speakers to go in but have not got round to it yet.

Image

At the Cornwall Jamboree I managed to pick up some Jag seats which were converted to fit in a T25. These went for a re-trim in the same black and white vinyl. They came back looking damned fine

Image

Here are a few more pics of the sync when it was outside. Still much to do but its looking sweet.

Lucky that this one is. The chap I bought it from gave me a couple of windows he was going to cut into it. They have now gone into the pile of things to sell when I get round to it.
