1) Petrol smell at front end of van, 1983 DG perol Joker. Fitted with plastic fuel filler and i'm guessibng a later tank as its in very good nick. I know about replacing the vapour pipes which i've ordered but when looking around I noticed that the plastic fuel inlet pipe that goes from the fuel filler into the tank was fairly loose where it goes into the tank, so much so that I could very easily move it about. I put my hands over the large circular rubber grommet that the plastic tube goes through to find it quite loose......thinking, oh..that would cause petrol smells if it were not sealing properly. So....I wanted to ask if this is basically a round seal with a groover in the middle that needs to be pushed into the tank aperture to fit in tightly? I've now tried to do this and it looks like a tighter fit.
2) FYI Hoseworld.com sell 6mm high quality injection fuel hose for abour £1.50- /mtr and 32mm Silicone tubing for radiators at £14/mtr. I'm thinking that if you had 2x 2 mtr lengths coupled with four 32mm aluminium hose joiners and one length (1mtr @ £32-) of wire reinforced, bendable 32mmID silicone tubing, then its possible to replace the old platic or metal water pipes (similar prices for 38mm) for around £120-. Half the price of Gunzl or JK stainless pipes, better compatability with the engine metal components and will last for ever! Why not??!
3) Am I right that fuel hose from tank to filter needs to be 7mm and after that point 5.5mm as per OEM?
