Outer Nearside sill (under sliding door)

Post by boatbuilder »

Hi,

I'm planning to do some cutting and welding in August.
One area that needs attention is the outer sill under the sliding door. Its the bit that has the seal channel on it....the seal channel actually broke off in my hand and there are holes in the metal under the channel. I have ordered the "sliding door guide" from JK which consists of the outer sill with the seal channel already welded on and it extends into the back of the recess for the door roller.
The inner sill looks ok (or at least the bit you can see when you crawl under the van)

My problem is ...well... how on earth do you replace this without doing some massive cutting? The panel extends way into that recess for the sliding door roller, so you can't exactly get in there too well with a grinder or a welder.

I've searched the forums and there is loads of info about replacing the offside sill, but not much about the nearside one.

Thanks,

David
