Roof bars that can be fitted to Devon poptop

Post by Pilks »

Hi folks anyone suggest any roof bars off a standard car that I could fit to my Devon pop top? Only want then to run half way down the van not the full length.
Cheers
Dave

Wouldnt advise it - apart from the roof not being strong enough to take constant flex/load of roof bars it's a bit dangerous should you lif up the roof with somethiong on the bars and have either the roof come back down again or whatever is on the bars fall over the side of the van!

towbar and trailer with a bike rack on the rear of the van

It would also de-value your van too - a Devon with holes in the roof?......

I think ( but I may be wrong) you can get roof bars that are tall enough to fit over the pop top down onto the gutters as normal. Bit of a bind as you have to remove the bars each time you want to raise the roof but its does give you extra storage option without ruining the poptop.
