Well I've messed up and am now worried about what I'm going to do!
I've fitted the distributor driveshaft into my engine without checking it was in the right position when number 1 piston is TDC and I haven't put the crank.pulley on yet.
I can take the driveshaft out using a magnet but there isn't any grease on the 2 washers so I'm worried they could drop into engine, I can't let that happen as I would have to split the cases again to get them out.
Is there any way round this?
If anyone could let me know asap I would really appreciate it to put my mind at test as I'm worried!
Thanks
need advice on distributor driveshaft asap please

did you oil the thrust washers ? If so then you'll be able to remove the drive and recover the washers with the magnet too, even if you didn't 9/10 they will stay on their shelf just be positive withdrawing the drive
time it up then reassemble

Thanks for the reply Aidan,
Yes i did give the distributor abit of an oil so the washers will have got some oil on them. Last time i took the distributor out i put the engine upside down, needless to say the washers didnt come out with it and fell in the engine!
I was thinking after i posted if i remember correctly the washers and driveshaft are fairly closed off when in place so yes hopefully they will either come out with the driveshaft or stay in place, i hope so i will give it a go today as i cant cope with taking the engine apart again

Got the drivehaft out today with a magnet, the washers stayed in the engine then also came out with the magnet
