Post by Dubstar »

Which way do I turn the dizzy to stop the engine pinking? 2ltr Aircooled. My timing light is in the UK so I need to do it manually. Only pinking a bit but, it needs going! Cheers guys.

Pinking - Also a sign of:

Overheating (hot weather + poor cooling fan/leaky cowlings)
Poor fuel
Excessive carbon buildup
Wrong plugs

Vac adv/retard system malfunctioning (e.g diaphragm, pipe leaks etc)

If the static timing was set correctly before, one should always ask why it needs changing now...

As long as it's 'light tinkling when provoked', sometimes to be expected, partic when really hot and heavy..
