RS4 alloys give me a buzz

Post by clump »

Just had van lowered by 45mm and Audi RS4 replicas fitted. They are 17" with 225 50 tyres. He's looking pretty sweet (I'll try post piccies soon). Had to put 10mm of spacers behind the wheel 'cos they hadn't been milled out enough at the shop. On full lock I get a buzz from the arches, when the suspension compresses, which I don't think is right

If I take the spacers out and get the wheels milled more will this be stopped and will there be enough space between the tyre and the wishbone? If not what thickness spacer will I need?

Anyone else out there running a similar set-up with any advice?

Thanks all
Clump

dont know what you mean by a BUZZ!! i have same wheels but 18"'s and got 6mm spacers on front that clears the wishbone with around 5/6mm gap for clearance but on a left hand lock it rubs for some reason but find it ok only on left hand lock not right hand
sweet wheels all the same made for the T25's they were

Thanks Rob,
I can only think that the buzz is the tyre hitting the flared bit of the arch, seems that way as the rubber is scuffed up on the outer shoulder of the tyre. No damage to the body (yet). Will have to try thinner spacers. Where do you get a 6mm spacer?
What drop are you running?
Cheers
Richard

hi there you can always leave the wider spacers in and get your arches"rolled" to clear the tyre, this means that the flange(grate word)of the arch is rolled up and out of the way giving more clearance,a good wheel company or some where like demon tweeks can do this ,dont know the cost, hope this helps. i have rs4 s too 18 inch same as robt25 we got them the same time, i have no probs with clearance at all my van is 60mm lowered with 6mm spacers front and back. welcome to the mad house mate :D
if its not broke dont fix it, or i will ;-)

Are we all running the same width of tyre/wheel?
If we are then it might be the 4mm difference, especially as I have a potential extra 15mm vertical clearance.
Unless, of course, I have soft suspension and am blowing through the travel. Maybe I should stiffen it up.

i have rs4's on too 18's i have my van dropped by 60mm and i have 6mm spacers on. at first on full right lock it catched but as i have had my van painted etc i have had the arches rolled at the front and i also have made the suspension harder (i have avo adjustables on)
now i have no problem

BY THE WAY IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE CENTRE CAPS FITTING
HERES MY ADVICE.
BUY SOME MK4 GOLF GTI ALLOY CENTER CAPS (THE STANDARD ONES)
THESE FIT A LOT BETTER THEN INSIDE THE WHEELS THERE WILL BE A LITTLE LIP TAP AND DIE IT USE A LITTLE BOLT AND HEY PRESTO BETTER LOOKING CENTER CAPS
