Oil Warning Light ????????????????

Post by j0n27 »

Hi, can someone please help !
Just brought a 1984 T25 transporter 1.9, the instruction manual states the oil pressure light should come on when ignition is switched on and go out when the engine starts. Mine flashes for a brief second on ignition and thats it !
Could this be a problem or am i worrying about nothing.
Please put my mind at rest so i can enjoy my camper
cheers

could just be a wiring fault but for peace of mind you need to check it out
the sensor is in the nearside block of the engine between the pushrods on 3 and 4 and the leadfrom that goes to a plug on the left side of the engine bay and thence into the wiring loom which runs from the black box to the front of the van behind the fuse board and then there's a wire to the 14 pin connector on the dash pod, you need to continuity check this to see if the wiring is ok, and when you are happy that's ok then you'll have to check the sensor in the engine and check the pressure properly or go to an alternative oil pressure monitoring system.
