Filling Seams ??

Post by Bigcarp »

Hi All,

Apologies if this is a stupid question, however I wanted to know that when repairing a patch of rust from a Seam, once sand blasted to remove old seam filler and rust proofed using Vactan, what seam filler should be used and where do i buy it from ??

Many Thanks
Nathan

'Silkaflex' seems (hee-hee, geddit?) to be the normal choice. I'd have thought most motor factors would stock it...

I'd heard that Tiger Seal is good for the job too.

Cheaper on eBay though.

I think silkaflex and tiger seal are very similar, silkaflex seems abit cheaper.

Put some masking tape down the sides of the seams then run thr gun down the seams, i think i just used my finger to smooth it.

Sikaflex is quite expensive, my local motor factor sells a different brand (same stuff in tube, air curing urethane) for half the price, can't remember brand but shop around
