2.1 Auto Petrol to 1.9TDI Manual

Hi all, I'm a noob.

Just about to purchase my first T25, its an 89 2.1 Auto Petrol. I want to convert it to a 1.9TDI and need to know what the best options are.

Will a 1.9 TDI (from golf mk4 150bhp) fit?
Will the 5spd/6spd manual box fit in (from golf mk4)?
Or
Can I use the petrol auto box wth an adaptor plate on the 1.9TDI ?

Also what about the wiring, I'm assuming I will need the TDI harness and ECU?

Any garages in the northeast know about this sort of conversion.

why?

it can be done but will prob cost £3500-4500

you can use the autobox with an adapterplate i have seen them but never used one tho

golf box will not work, you will basically need a complete disesl van to strip as theres lots of parts you will need- not just the engine/gearbox!

you will also be best buying the complete driving golf to make sure you also have all the golf parts.

and it will only be as reliable as the quality of the job and the quality of the parts used (box , engine, ect)

Yeah I rang him thanks, very helpful. Its gonna cost alot more than I expected, best to keep it petrol and go for a subaru conversion I think !
