Post by hammy44 »

propex heater wont start power going to it, gas getting to it, when you adjust the thermostat to the green light comes on it sounds like its starting ,but then immediatly goes out. anyone got any answers as to a fix, as am heading to lake district this week. although if this weather keeps up i wont be needing it.

goes out or switches off?

battery ok?
I mean fully charged.
tried it with the engine running?

changed your gas after it ran out?

why do you adjust the thermostat?
tried it on it's lowest setting?

WHS^^
Have you actually got gas? i.e. is the isolation valve for propex open
When mine did the same, it was the stat, would try to light, go out. Wiggling the stat temporary fixed it, ended up buying new stat

My early propex had a bad stat too.
being mechanical the bi metal spring stopped working.

propex will service your unit if you can't fix it.
But being such a simple affair I'm sure it's not a serious problem... just operator error :D

yes kev, the battery is fully charged just off the charger and its a deep cycle charger , new gas cylinder. gas appears to be getting to the unit as it back fires if you keep twidling the thermostat have tried it with engine running but all to no joy.

Hi if you can get hold of a compressor you could try to blow air into the intake exhaust you should be able to hear the fans turning then try to start it.I had the same trouble with my propex and was told to try this and it now works a treat.I was told that you should start it at least once a month because if not the bearings will bed in and it won't run hence blowing the air into the intake pipe as my bearings had bedded in.
