Electrolux fridge flue kit

Post by Cruz »

During our recent trip to northumberland we experienced some strong winds that changed direction day to day which kept blowing out the gas on our fridge. I traced it to the flue where the wind was blowing down the pipe and extinguishing the flame.

Anyone got any solutions to prevent this other than me fashioning a box to go around the sides of flue vent but still allowing the hot vented gasses to escape upwards?

There should be a little anti-backdraft flap inside the flue terminal. Mine appears to be about 40mm square and is made of flat rubber sheet and hangs on the little peg on the bit that stays on the van when you remove the cover. Easy to forget when replacing the cover. Can't put up a photo cos I've just sealed the terminal back on.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.

Anyone got a picture of this backdraft flap as I'm not sure I have one as the fridge system is 27 years young

Looking at new flue kits they have a perforated cap to prevent blowout.

I'll probably replace the flue as the pipe has come away from the plate (little welded flap of metal) where it fixes to the side of the van

having decided I need a new flue kit due to the pipe that fits onto the side of the van having come away from the fixing plate and the absence of a wind stopper I now have another problem

My flue vent isn't the same size as the one currently on the market. Mine is more square with 4 holes on each side of the cover whereas the newer kit is more oblong and has 6 holes

I assume the 4 hole version is no longer available and I will probably have to fettle the new kit to accomodate my old flue cover?
