Aircooled tappet adjustment

howdy, having just replaced my push rod tubes seals on my 2l Aircooled cu engine i now have to adjust the tappets

my questions are:

how do i k now which cylinder is which?

and also , my timing scale is missing! is it ok if i just use the notch in the dissy body as a guide?

I ended up taking out a plug and turning the engine till i felt the piston hit the long riptie i was holding in the hole! :roll:


It worked! :)

Put a cork in it would ya :D

I mean a wine cork in no1 cylinder, front right, it will pop on the compression stroke

thanks guys, al sorted ow, although still leaking a bit- seems to be comng from iinside the heat exhangers? is this possible?!

I thought that on my bus for a while, turned out to be dripping from a push rod seal on to the top of the heat exchanger
