Weld in genuine swival seat bases

Post by FattyBatty »

About to get a chap to weld in a pair of genuine VW svwal seat bases which look like they have been cut from a donar van :D
Any pitfalls to avoid or advice to ensure it goes smoothly would be greatly appreciated:?:

I just had one (gen.Westfalia) fitted into mine.

So long as it was removed from the donor van sympathetically there should be no problem.

The only issues are the bettery height (if it is a non-standard battery and a petrol). Mine is a petrol and the rear of the base is about 1cm from the rear of each runner and pretty much flush with the seat front. It simply sits between the runners on the cab box floor and has 8 stitch welds to the original runners.

Let me know if you need photos :ok

Mines genuine and weld in.
No pit falls its will be fairly obvious where to weld it when you offer them up, providing of course they have been removed properly

why weld them in when you can bolt them in and still have access below and then you can just remove them if you sell van
