Exhaust tailpipe

Hi everyone, I am very new to all things T25 (and all things mechanical if I'm honest - hence my visit here!). But we've just bought a lovely T25. We love it already. It passed it's mot just last week with limited issues to fix. But on our first voyage the rusty exhaust tailpipe has come off altogether. The van is a 1980 W reg, 1970cc. We are not very mechanically minded but don't want to get ripped off by a garage. Is it an easy job to fix? and how do you go about getting the right parts? Number four on this page http://www.vwheritage.com/vwh/VW-Camper ... lateID=vwh" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; seems to look like it but we aren't sure as it says this is for vehicles up to 1979. Also the connecting part between the exhaust and the tailpipe is very rusty and looks tricky to come off. Is it? Exhaust itself in the most part looks good. but with a little rust.

Basically should we be messing about with this sort of thing or go to a garage? Any help is most gratefully received.

If you want to at least minimise the hours the garage may need to sort this, spray all relevant nuts with plusgas (not WD40) days ahead of when it has to go in and possibly repeated doses. You can certainly do it yourself but could end up drilling out stuff that won't shift. I mention it a lot but I too had the same exhaust set up, got fed up messing with rotten tailpies and made up a complete half-breed exhaust in stainless from a kawasaki silencer. It wasn't hard, sounds great, removed my flat spots completely and loses the rotten tailpipe problem too - about an hours work (see exhausts in WIKI). I still have the original silencer box (available to good home) which had only been on vehicle for a year.

P.S. _ I think AngeloEVS has just laid claim to the exhaust so don't ask....
