Just went to check the engine number today to confirm before ordering parts. I believe it is stamped into the crankcase just below the breather housing. What is stamped there is DG and no digits.Does this mean the engine has been replaced at some time in the past? Should there not a series number following the letters? Any information much appreciated.

Re: Engine Number?????
there should be a series of numbers ,these could have been taken off if the engine was re built ? why ,who know's , could have been nicked , your guess is as good as anyone's on here.
Good news is that you know that's it's a DG

Re: Engine Number?????
The van is originally German so I suppose the engine may have been replaced there.Definitely looks as if the number was machined off and restamped DG also with an unreadable stamp to the left of the letters.Just thought somebody may have come across this just to prove its a replacement. Thanks for the reply.
