What position to fit Westy pop top roof rack brackets

Hi, i've got the early westy pop top brackets that bolt onto side of the fibreglass roof and sit in the gutter to spread the load of a roof rack. What i'm not sure about is at what point to fit the brackets length ways was wondering if best fairly central so load would be in the middle or should the mounts be near to the reinforcd sections? ANyone got a picture of the original fitment as westy/vw intended? cheers
