1.9 NA Diesel
Hi, Im looking to put a 1.9 NA Diesel in to replace my 1.6D. Will I get a more usable van and will it go up hills better or is it not worth doing ?. Or, should I just get abetter gearbox on the 1.6 to give it better ratios ?
I have no idea where it came from, or what it is, but it's looking right at me.

Re: 1.9 NA Diesel
My opinion, [which others may refute]. Slap that 1.9 in, use the 1.9 intake, find a gasser double outlet exhaust manifold, have a 2.5 " exhaust built up, turn up the fuel screw a little, back out the max fuel bolt [ check out http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for your diesel upgrade info] , find an air cooled transmission with a taller R&P and ask why you or VW never did it sooner. You could also find an AAZ or turbo the 1.9, but that involves a lot more work, and more things to break.

Re: 1.9 NA Diesel
I've just put an AEF in to replace my old 1.6CS.
We're chuffed to bits with the results (keeping the original gearbox). It's a bit revvy at 60 but great on normal roads. Uses less fuel too.
I've done a thread on the brickyard about doing the swap if your interested.

Re: 1.9 NA Diesel
I'm still waiting for my 1Y intake to come from Poland [!]. Once i have that plumbed in, i'll be able to turn out the max fuel screw all the way. Can't wait.
