Lucas 113ah leisure battery £99.99 delivered...OK??..

Post by toolsntat »

Well need a new leisure battery and am planning on ordering this and stowing it else ware rather than under the seat....

http://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/buy-on ... d_186.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Any disadvantage as to using this size in the camper ie., will it charge ok on the split charge system ?......

Cheers
Andy

The only worry you have is if you allow it to go flat......there could be an issue on initial start as is likely to demand some serious current possibly more then your existing leisure relay/fuse and wiring can handle.
I have the exact same issue (just fitted an additional 110AH to my Westie) yesterday infact, so I'm keeping a close eye on things.
I guess the most likely thing to happen is that it may blow the existing fuse ( which I believe is just 30amps)
Long term I think the wiring/relay and fuse will need upgrading a little.

Not at the workshop James so cant give size, I have one behind a seat though, looking at that web link I would think the size they quote would be a questionable fit but as above not got van here,

Just to update on this....

Knew the one quoted would not fit under the seat but was prepared to mount else ware :wink:

Chickened out in the end as this would need wire re-routing and we wanted to be away sharpish :roll:

Had this one, it was a shade higher than stated and I must say VERY plain with no statement of type or Ah :shock: but it never gave up the ghost on us through 3 days use (tv,dvd,lights,pumped water& phone charging) 8)

This is the leisure battery I was looking at getting before the Platinum one got mentioned: http://www.tayna.co.uk/ELECSOL-100-Carb ... P5579.html a bit more height to it but it'll just about fit. Not sure if it is likely to last longer than the Platinum, it doesn't mention its cycle stats.

Actually, just found the specs and it's much better than the Platinum battery and has a 5 year guarantee: http://www.outdoorbits.com/elecsol-100- ... p-732.html
