What is this switch?

Any idea what this switch could be to the left of the power sockets? The wires disappear behind the side panel, so I'm not sure where they lead. I've seen the same on another Bilbo's conversion, so I assume it is a standard feature.

Something that is non standard and retrofitted by a previous owner.
In the second picture: whats the other side? looks like the reverse side of a bulb holder? maybe lighting a compartment?
