CV Joints - experienced/expert opinions please..

Post by Yozza »

Ay up,

I've been having a few rumbles round my rear, I got a min to take off the near sided inner cv off and inspect, they feel 'notchy' when dry and you can just about make out all the score lines. pics
Could this be why I'm having rear end noises, or is this normal wear? (These cv joints are only 5 months old!!!)

Cheers,
Yozza

Lay off the curry and beans! :run
I am no expert but to me it looks as though that is how a newish one would look before it has bedded in fully. (I would like to see a smoother bearing surface from the start though!)

I find you need at least double the amount of grease inside CV joints than that usually supplied with them. Should shut them up. Pot of moly grease is just short of £6 in Halfords.
