Rear seatbelts

Post by trickytroggle »

Hi :)
Does anyone know where the seatbelt points are in a T25 1986 transporter van (i keep hitting the 'c' button instead of the 'v'!!)
I know Just Kampers magazine has a little diagram but I'm not sure if I want to rely on this solely. I would like to fit 3 point belts, is this difficult because the van is already made and the side strutts would not be acceccible? I am not doing it myself?
Any recommendations
Ludlow, Shropshire area
Thanks Guys

The side struts would not be accessable?

The diagram you refer to seems about right. If you have a velle or combi that has seatbelt mounts then thereabouts is where you will find them. If you don't got mounts and my understanding is whatever your van was it may not have, then you are going to have to drill some holes and use spreader plates.

Obviously you will be putting the mounts in such a place that the seat belts can be used, other than that it's common sense. I put the top mount in a position I could reach from the vents at the back (with the plastic off) so I could get a nut in the end. I put the nearside bottom mount through the wheel arch and then the rest of the bottom mounts in a line along the deck. This isn't as per the JK diag as my seat goes further back than that. My off side three point comes through the wardrobe and it's no problem to use.

It's not a hard job and as long as you get the regulation hardwear i.e correct nuts and bolts, spreader plates, etc. it is something you can do yourself in a couple of hours.
