Electric fuel pump and overfuelling

Post by danstarstream »

Hi,

I've just fitted an electric fuel pump and adjustable pressure regulator after my mech pump got buggered (don't ask :x ).
Now the van won't idle and bogs down whilst accellerating.

I am assuming this is down to overfuelling, however I will be checking this with a CO meter. I have used a gauge and blanked off the carbs and see 1 psi, (does what it says on the tin  ). It holds 1 psi with the pump off too. I have then t-pieced into one of the carb and the gauge moved to 1 ocassionally but lost pressure easily when the pump was turned off.

Through my powers of deduction I have reasoned that the valve must be f@*&?d, or atleast not upto the job. Will a couple of rebuild kits fix this or would I be pissing into the wind? Anyone fitted one and was happy?

Cheers,
Daniel

Boink..

Has nobody fitted a solex rebuild kit and can give me some feedback on the quality of the float valves?? Or atleas the quality of the kits?

On a secondary note, how do I make sure that my choke is deffinately off?

Cheers,
Daniel

Feel like a slight plonker. Idle shut of jet was not getting 12V supply. I naturally discovered this after I'd stripped and rebuilt the carbs...
