rear suspension mountings and front seat belt anchorage
My 85 Holdsworth just failed on rear sus mounts and front seat belt anchorage, guess major welding is needed. Anybody got any advice on whether this is going to be hugely expensive. fairly down as a result, vw fund almost empty so some good news wud be appreciated.

Can you expand upon 'rear suspension mounts'
Do you mean the trailing arm has failed due to rust or is it just the section on the top of the trailing arm where the rear spring sits?
If it is the latter then repair sections can be bought and welded onto the trailing arm
If it is the former then ebay user puffingtheherb has some (located nr Preston, Lancs). He has 2 auctions on ebay at the moment but he does have more arms than that at his farm. Contact him and get them stripped and blasted then paint them before fitting. I got a great pair from him for only £50 and blasted them and painted them. One is on the van the other is waiting for the day it is needed.
I'd recommend anyone who is planning on keeping a van long term to check the conditon of their trailing arms and source a replacement pair for the future if they look ropey.
For fitting contact Simon @ the brickwerks. He has done quite a few trailing arms and replaced mine in 90 minutes flat. Please only ring him to arrange a garage date as he's too busy to be a T25 agony aunt.
E D I T: Front seatbelt anchorage sounds like it will need welding. I had mine done. I had the arch repaired and had seat belt mounting plates welded under the arches for the seatbelt bolts

Re: rear suspension mountings and front seat belt anchorage
Hi Cruz thanks for the post. The MOT cert says its the 'seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded' and 'suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded'. Just had a look and there is a lot of rust in the bodywork rather than the component and the underside of the front arches are fairly bad too. Like the idea for the seat belt anchorage, if they could be welded to something solid i might be in with a shout!
Re: rear suspension mountings and front seat belt anchorage
Check around the area where the spring cup attaches to the sub frame both my cups had corroded through the sub frame in that area and its a failure had to cut both side of my spring cups off the subframe and weld repair the subframe, sounds bad but just required an insert repair plus a bit of extra strengthening and a repair to the cup then welded the entire assembly back onto the subframe and body only took half a day for each side.
