Hic ups
Took the van to two weddings this weekend and while returning from the second on the M25 the van made a number of hiccups. We were doing 60/65 mph on the flat no issues when i noticed the van falter for a split second then run fine again, this happened three times in 2 minutes and i slowed down and nothing more. I continued for a further 25 miles with no dramas. The new radiator worked fine even in the traffic jam on the A12, the temp gauge didn't even get past half way The van is a 1.9 WBX 1983 Devon pop top, which runs on unleaded. I do use a lead additive on every third tank but usually don't go on many motorways since buying her 5 months ago. I think i have the old DF engine and wondered if anyone else has had these hiccups?

Re: Hic ups
Checked your fuel filter lately? could be water in the tank..
Has it had a new dizzy cap/rotor arm lately? all serviced and tuned up??
"lead addative" is not required, save the cash.. these vans were designed to run on unleaded...

Re: Hiccups
The van was fully serviced three months ago with the gear box oil being changed(£250), just after i brought her. The fuel filter was changed then, but i don't think the cap or arm was changed. The van runs fine around the village where i live, however i do get a slight miss fire when i rev up hard and then lift off the accelerator pedal. This is intermittent and only slight. I thought it might be the ECU and started to panic. I have spent another £600 on new front springs which were cracked and all associated bushes changed once the suspension was stripped down and rebuilt. I still get a annoying squeak and thought it could be the shocks, but the garage said they were fine. The last bit of welding was done this week, another £400 spent and the van has now swallowed up the last of my savings. The van is my obsession and the wife is running out of patience and another big cash outlay wouldn't be an option. Thanks for all the advice, i will get the arm and cap tomorrow. Cheers Karl.
