ant eggs in my water?

Post by zinfandel »

Just started to strip the engine down to send back to the peeps who recon the engine as its been playing up and IV all but lost compression on number 4 cylinder.
Taking the water pipes off when removing the one from the inlet manifold to the thermostat I find its full of metal/ally like fish eggs?
See pic.
Any way as I experiencing problems with the firm who supplied the engine I have two questions.

1/ where could this stuff have come from?

2/ would you return you're engine to a firm who over two months have never returned a call or a letter or a e-mail or a fax or have never tried in anyway to reply to my calls for help.

3/ If the answer is no to the above who would you recommend to get my engine running again

It's nothing a great deal of time and money can't fix

Part of my problem with a garentee from before the takeover.

If you take over a company's assets, you also take over its liabilities, surely?

Is it the stuff they put in to try to stop water leaks, but they've either used the wrong stuff or havent followed the instructions?

You are not a million miles from me and I am preparing to take my lump up to Elite V.W. Recomended through Pete @ Gassure. They are going to rebuild whilst I wait, don't think they could do two though, but if you want I could collect yours and drop it in for you.
I know this is throwing more money at the thing but I least I can save you a bit of P&P

Oh and I spoke to the guy who will being doing the rebuild and he said it depends on how far the internalls are gone as to wether he can complete in a day. Fantastic to have a honest mechanic :!:

I could bring the engine over if you like, I go to cheltenham most weekends as its my home town, Iv been told the stuff could be pinning or somthing like that that is yous'd like sand blasting to clean the engine.
