Hi all.
I'm currently replacing the spiggot bearing and oil seal, on changing the oil seal it is apparent that the input shaft will need replacing too there's a great amount of wear. Reading though the archives it states that the input shaft is retained by a M7 stud? ( maybe torks ?). I have removed the circlip but the sleeve doesn't want to come. Is the M7 stud located underneath the sleeve or do I need to split the next caseing into the gearbox??
Any advice welcome
You only need to take the bellhousing off then rotate the crown wheel untill there is space between for the input shaft to undo . There is a threaded stud that screw into the back of the shaft.
Cheers camper.
After a bit of fiddling about this morning the shaft came out no problem and I've manage to sorce a replacement. The shaft has been wearing on the top hat and has welded hardened steel to the inside grooves (top face only). I have gently used wet n dry to smooth the inside of the top hat so that it slides over the shaft smoother, but getting it all off would take a bit more thinking about. It still has 1/2 mm of original grooves left but until I get replacement i don't know if I need to get back to the wet n dry. Is this process corect or am I going to screw things up? I realize the outer rim needs to be snug and I think Ive got that covered.
Any input welcome and thanks once again
