240v hook up and Zig charger??

Post by carl666 »

Ok 80-90 tech guy's this is my problem.....
I have just wired in a second hand cf8 Zig unit (I was told all was working when taken out of previous caravan/camper) and everything tested OK,batteries worked, both charge etc...
Then I conected the 240v hook up,everything looked OK didn't trip out the fuse box, but when I switched over to 240v the Zig unit buzzed then clicks, 5-10 seconds later it does it again etc etc.
I have sussed out it may be the thermal cut out but it's not getting hot, If you turn the 240v off at the unit seconds later there is a click (must be the cut out resetting).
I have metered up the lesure battery and for the split second the unit buzzes the battery is getting a 13+ volt charge, but only for a split second.
I tried to run the battery down a little to see if this made any difference but to no avail.
Any ideas????? and if it is a faulty thermal cutout can you replace them??

Thanks in advance Carl. :D

sounds like something is drawing too much current. could remove all the three out put supply fuses see if it still cuts out if not need find out which ones loading it if still does it what size cable do you have from the battery to the zig should be a least 2.5mm if its lighter it could have loading effect.
Stu

mine was a blue 89 Td Hitop
