2.1 strip down

Post by 66split »

hi all, well i have started stripping down my mv 2.1. due to low oil pressure (0 when warm!) and also a knocking noise. havnt got to cleaning and measuring yet but would appreciate an opinion on the oil pump drive. there seems to be alot of play at contact point on the cam wheel (shiney wear marks on the drive end). when i rocked the drive in the cam wheel before stripping the engine it sounded very like the rattling noise. also i have a tooth missing from the cam wheel! is this a common problem. cheers, dave.

Volkspares (telephone 020 877807100) had camshafts (part number 113109021G) in stock for £49.90. At that price you'd be well advised to fit everything you can new camshaft bearings 111198541 £4.95. The oil pump is number 132960088 £12.50 and the cover is 102960121 £3.95.

These prices are slightly out of date but they'll give you a new quote from those numbers.
