Brake rebuild

Im in the middle of a rear end rebuild and whilst stripping everything down I got the handbrake adjusting pushrods mixed up. One is a left hand thread and one is a right hand thread. Which side does the one with the left hand thread go?

Left hand thread is the right hand side, and vise versa.

Thanks Simon. I'm having brain damage bleeding the brakes now. No leaks, new everything but they just wont bleed and that's after 4 litres of fluid through the system. Still, thankfully there is something called a 2004 St Nicolas de Buorgueil ..........

Is it definately trapped air or have the shoes not self ajusted? On my Land-Rover (which has twin leading shoe front drums notoreous for being tricky to bleed) I had an nightmare trying to get air out that just wouldn't come. In the end when I was so fedup I decided to live with the 'pump for brakes' pedal I set the snail cams (not self ajusting of course) and the pedal became spot on - I hate bleeding brakes!

I never press the pedal to bleed brakes, just let them gravity bleed.
By pressing pedal on on master cylinders you run the risk of damaging the seals as they run over the corroded parts of the master cylinder bore that aren't normally used.

Gave up on the SA brakes and reverted to standard with new pads. Working fine now

yes and as simon says, you get a bit of that pesky rubber in the line somewhere and you will never get the brakes working well unless you flush the whole lot out, I had a nightmare on my T2 with this problem!

Someone was asking if i could do the discs/pads recently, but I'm not sure what they are.
The SA part numbers don't go into my part search software, that's only for European stuff.
Are they genuine VW ones with 22S part numbers or have they managed to cross the part numbers over to something European?
If they do I would stick them on the webshop.

Yup they are the genuine article all right and came in VW boxes

The caliper springs aren't fitted correctly, thats all i can tell from the picture.
Calipers look very Girling, similar to those on my T4 shop van, and similar to those on the Oettinger brakes also.

Cant see any other way of fitting the springs .......

The ends should clip over the caliper carrier, so that it is pulling the two parts of the caliper together.
